Archiving Policy

1. Purpose

Lebda Medical Journal is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. This archiving policy ensures that all articles remain permanently available, even in the event of technical failures, system migrations, or other unforeseen circumstances.

2. Digital Preservation Strategy

To safeguard the journal’s content, Lebda Medical Journal employs a multi-layered digital preservation strategy using the following systems:

a. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

The journal participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides a free preservation service for journals using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Through PKP PN, all published articles are automatically archived in a distributed network of preservation nodes using the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology, ensuring:

  • Long-term storage and digital preservation of all published content.
  • Continued access to journal content even if the journal website becomes unavailable.
  • Protection against data loss, corruption, or tampering.

b. Acronis Cloud Backup

In addition to PKP PN, the journal’s digital assets are regularly backed up using Acronis Cloud Backup services. This includes:

  • Full website, database, and file system backups stored securely in the Acronis Cloud.
  • Daily automated backups with version control and retention policies.
  • Rapid restoration in case of data loss, hardware failure, or cyber incidents.

3. Access and Availability

Archived content will remain publicly accessible via the journal website and PKP PN. In the event that the journal ceases publication, access to all previously published materials will be maintained through the PKP PN and institutional archives.
